Carnival

In Spain we celebrate Carnival around February or March (before lent). It finishes the day before Ash Wednesday.

Usually we celebrate this festivity with parades in the streets with people wearing colorful masksand funny costumes, sometimes self-made costumes!!

All the schools have a few days off but before leaving for the holiday, we celebrate Carnival with the school community. Usually a topic is chosen for the whole school to dress up in. Families design their costumes and children bring them to school. All together, teachers and pupils, parade in the playground with the families as spectators.  We have great fun!

However, this year everything has been different…because of the COVID-19.

To be safe, it was decided to celebrate Carnival inside the classroom with creative but safe activities. Many of us decided to make carnival masks. Here you have some examples.  We hope you like them!
